We have a bathroom which has lights (and fan) switched on by a single switch located outside by the door.
I would like to replace this with a switch that has a neon indicator which would show when it is occupied.
I know that neon indicators are common on 13 amp sockets and spur switches.
How can it be arranged on a simple lighting switch?

There would need to be a neutral at the switch position.

If it’s an older property, there might just be a live and the switch wire.

20A double pole switches with neons are readily available. A bit heavier to use, but otherwise the same in appearance as an ordinary light switch.
You need a neutral to be present, as said above, but if there is, connect so that the neutral to the neon is switched by the otherwise unused half of the switch, to avoid the possibility of the neon glowing dimly when off.

Does everyone switch the lights on when they need the bathroom? I certainly dont!
Having some light may avoid missing the target and getting wet feet :)

Unless of course you sit down, like i do sometimes as a treat. :)
