A client has asked me to install a light and lightswitch in a large fireplace. It contains a log burner and flue and did have live cableing spured from a socket which I have disconected and removed (not fused down and no isolator switch). Is this possible ? I would obviously use heat rated flex but would I need heat rated light fittings and switches ? Any advice would be appreciated.

Have done a few of these and I used a normal switch outside of the fireplace then wired to the light in FP200, and used a small stainless halogen spot, as the internal wiring on these is heat resistant. Dont know if the lamps were overheating/blowing but have not had any complaints.
