Can someone help.

Have a customer whos bedroom lights dont work after a bulb has blown. They have checked all connections and fuses at the mains board and all is ok.

poor connection/s or fuse. if the rest of the lights on thatcircuit work, it's the former.

it's possible that the blown lamp could have taken out the switch if the switch was a bit tired.

it could well be the fuse some of the old rewireables look like they are ok when they are not did you do a continuity test across them or just look at them

They are your customer ? Are you an electrician ? Have you carried out any fault finding yet ? What readings have you got ? A little more info might be useful.

Look at the wiring in the ceiling rose. There is very often a "fuse" in there - when the insulation is stripped away the copper can be nicked, or the pressure of the terminal screw can have the same result. This effectively forms a fuse, a weak point in the wiring. When a lamp blows it can take this "fuse" with it, but inside the ceiling rose is the last place anyone thinks to look, and even then it's not obvious because the wiring looks OK. Used to happen quite often with incandescent lamps, haven't known it to happen with CFLs (they die differently)
