thats rough as a badgers rear end.

What was wrong with him jointing with an maintenance free jointbox?

Is this your kitchen? Was he a proper sparky, or someone that the joiner sourced?

Where roughly are you located? maybe a forum member could have a look at it.

Two acceptable options.

1, Put it in a back box and then a blank plate over it. In your situation I'd prefer this as it remains accessible for inspection.

Or..

2, Use a Wago, or similar, Maintenance Free junction box and pop it back in the wall.

Taped up and thrown in the wall, whilst common, is very poor practice and may lead to issues down the line.

Picture 2 is an easy fix

pull back the cable from the socket to the right and remover , and there looks just enough slack on the other cable to push it into the double socket box and connect back to the socket

no need what so ever for the tape joint in this situation

Picture 1 , if you really don;t want a double socket there then I would put a box and blank it off

Can't say that I'm fully convinced about inaccessible maintenance free joints

Resin joint on a buried SWA ya

Haven't used the wago joint boxes but just sounds like glorified junction boxes to me .What happens if water drips down into the joint and it's inaccessible , I dunno
