Please help me if u can folks...
Just had a guy refuse to fit my new cooker because the loop reading was too high.
He said it should have been under 0.93 but was actually 190!
Hate to fit the girly stereotype but i havent a clue what this means and now i have no cooker :(
Gonna have to call an electrician 2morro, but would be so grateful if someone could explain this to me in the meantime and perhaps give me a heads up as to whether this is gonna be a big (and expensive job)?
Thanks Loads

In basic terms hes used a meter to check the effectiveness of the earthing at the cooker outlet and in this case has found a problem which could be down to a few reasons from issues with supply earth or just a small issue with a loose connection on the circuit either way its hard to pricetag it without knowing the cause, hopefully its simply a loose wire and just a call out fee.
The fitter has quite rightly refused to connect up because if their was a fault at any time with cooker and the earthing was poor then its a potential death trap.

It depends what earthing system you have, if it's TT (earth stake outside somewhere) although its still a little high, its still just in with the regs and it will be RCD protected.
However if you have have a different earthing system (The electrician will check this when he comes) then the reading is too high and requires looking into, as mentioned on the last post, it could be something as simple as a looses connection.
You were lucky they even checked the earth loop, most delivery type people don't.
