Hi Mark, how did you get that diagnosis. My GP just gives me some silly story about lack of lubrication and writes out the pain killer/anti inflam prescription. No way will they pay for a scan. The best i got was an appointment with some young physio who had no confidence and just gave me a few exercises that i already knew from my osteopath.
One hell of a lengthy process, here we go...
8 months of private chiro treatment, pain got so bad one day I went to the GP.
GP reffered me to NHS physio, after 3 months they reffered me to spinal fitness classes - no better.....
After spinal fitness failed and went back to physio, that physio then sent me to head poncho physio at the QA hospital.....
about 3 months of the most uncomfortable exercises (I turns out they do that so see if you are a benefit cheat as the local area is seriously bad) the head poncho said she would refer me to have an MRI.....
3 months later had MRI, the scan showed 2 off degenerated discs at L4-L5 and L5-S1 with annular tears pushing on the root nerve.
I was told to take antiinflammatories and nothing can be done!!!!!
2 months later went back to GP to get stronger pain killers and got referred to a pain clinic, which in then referred me to another.
This second pain clinic (6 months later) did a discography and nucleoplasty but could only do one disc as the second would have been to risky as potential nerve damage, now that was unbelievably pain full!! And didn't work.
6 months later with pain clinic check up, they said I might be better off with an X-Stop, so another referral to QA hospital, another MRI as a year had passed by, to be told no change in the back, but due to no permanent sciatic pain no operation at the moment, keep going to the chiro!!
Honestly every day in the van sat in traffic I wish someone would ram into the back of the van in the hope it will be a bit worse and get a ruddy op!
