The only 'guidance' I've seen mentioned assessing the risk as in ease of evacuation, complexity/size of building etc.

Regulation 422.2.1 covers escape routes and Low smoke cabling.

Personal opinion, when you look at how much PVC containment etc. is used and what state the building would probably be in by the time the burning wiring system became a serious concern, there might be some 'hype' going on with LSF.

The company I used to work for did a lot of council contracts and they specced LSF for nearly all the work we did in schools. Awful stuff to work with and double the price of PVC at he time.
Nearly always used to be specced to run inside PVC conduit/trunking/dado trunking. I just didn't see the point for the circuits we were installling.

Thats a good point Andy installing LSF in pvc trunking which itself gives off toxic fumes...so is the trunking itself available in LSF..?
Found some interesting facts on pvc cable giving off Hydrogen Chloride gas when burnt, emitted in a dense black smoke.....which turns to Hydrocholoric acid when cooled with water. ....PVC emits 28% HCL when burnt....LSF emits 15%.....LSFZ emits< 0.5%

This was always our point, what was the purpose of installing expensive LSF cabling in PVC dado trunking (majority of the work was offices and School IT rooms, so most of it was dado based) When the trunking probably contained 20 times more PVC than was being saved using LSF ?

We never did get a proper answer out of any clerk of works... and believe me we asked plenty of times on site.. lol.

Hated using the stuff, especially as they always specced 4mm T+E ring circuits for general IT sockets.
