Hi does anybody here use apple macs for running there business.

I have used them for years but find it a problem that any software for this game is only written for windows.

was just wondering if anybody has the same problem?

Hi I have been using Mac's for the last 10 years. No problems with software as my iMac and powermac have intel processors so they dual boot in either Windows or Mac.

I would never go back to PC's now as I love all Apple stuff, we all have iPhones and iPods and have just finished fitting Apple TV modules to every TV in the house so no more DVD's needed.

If you have a intel mac you can run windows as well. Which one do you have?

Hello mate
I have a macbook pro with intel which i have installed xp on just for NIC software and have been playing about with electra for pricing but its already running slow so i was thinking of buying windows 7 for it, i also have a old power mac G5 desktop which im thinking of upgrading so i can do the same. just seems a pain to keep rebooting to windows and having files stored on each i would prefer to stick to mac to, do you use parrallels?.
an NIC cert app for ipad or i phone would be good.

I too have a macbook pro with parallels 5 and win 7, it runs quicker than it did with the utter rubbish Vista, Parallels 6 is supposed to be even quicker.

And you can drag and drop etc as you run both OS's at the same time.

Yeah, we are a die hard Mac family. PC's are sh*&e and sloooow. I advocate not running a Mac as a dual computer - Mac/PC, stick to Mac only for a number of reasons.

It really narks me that sparky software is only written for PC's but I understand the reasoning - supply and demand etc. So I have a cheap Laptop I use for electrical software and it doesn't affect our Mac hardware :)

Ah I have had this problem of trying to run programs for work but they're only compatible with windows. I only have the standard MacBook- So I need to upgrade to a duel intel to run XP etc?

I'm an advocate of running Linux operating systems and OpenOffice software on standard PCS. They can take a bit of technical know-how to set up but are much quicker, reliable and cheaper than any Windows OS and software. Less prone to viruses too.

Does anybody use there mac for invoicing?
If so what software do you use?

Sparkydan, I just use a word document that I have set up as a template in the Mac version of Word. But you could do similar in Pages and to be honest, Pages is so much easier to use than word.

I agree about the cost aspect re Macs/PC's and parallels etc. I bought a cheap notebook and the battery life is good (they say 10 hours but I get about 8, which is fine for a days work)

Save some money on invoicing programs and download a copy of Open Office. It's free and compatible with all versions of Word and Excel as well as Pages and Numbers which are the Apple equivalents. You can save your documents in Microsoft formats if you have to send something via email to a Windows PC or export to PDF if you don't want your work altering.

I use MS Office 2008 for mac, works a treat. I moved over to a Mac about 3 years ago i have a 21inch imac, brilliant piece of kit. The mac hasn't got even one little dent in it out of frustration, the old PC looks like a well battered dustbin.

Anyone who owns a PC should be entitled to their money back, as they are not fit for purpose, and this is a breach of your consumer rights.

Cheers...........Howard

We are a totally apple household too. Literally everything that can be apple is! Lol

Even using an iPad for onsite certs now! ;-)

Sadly, Sage still needs Windows so we have a laptop purely for the financials. :-(
