Hi i did a P.I.R yesterday on a nearly new house, there was no earth bond on the water main, the pipe work that was visable was all copper including the pipework disappering into the wall, rang niceic technical help line and they said it sould be earthed, as the pipework hidden is unknown, rang the electricains who wired it (clarson evans) and some bloke in their office told me they did not need to bond it?
any one any thought the house is 3yrs old and built by whimpy.

my house was built in 2006 and has no water bond! all pipe work is in plastic apart from under sink where copper is used!

what pipe work is at radiators and behind bathroom sinks??

most new houses are all plastic!

so would there just be equpotential bonding at sinks etc

Bond it anyway! Just to be safe

may be actually making it less safe if only that area is copper pipe!!

i would investigate further mate! get the builder to confirm what type of pipes were used!
if it has not been bonded now from new it would strongly suggest it is plastic pipe!

if watermain is copper(older house) if you bond straight after stopcock, does this mean nothing else needs bonded

Correct unless you have a special location and its not protected by a RCD and then supp bonding may need to be used to offer additional protection

all copper under sink and into wall cooper at immersion tank, clarkson evans said installation is in plastic although nic said if it in the walls in copper it could come into contact with a cable or also the connections to the sink where braided.

were they braided and connected to platic pipe at other end!

your call mate but you could be introducing a risk by bonding!
