Had a couple of run ins with gas fitters in recent times, y'know those guys known to chop bonding off and fling it away if it's in their way in the not so recent past... but suddenly if theres not an earth clamp <600mm from the gas meter you've got gas fitter histrionics
One recent one I'd passed on a EICR where the gas pipe was bonded just after it passed through the external wall, with the gas meter ~ 15M of externally clipped pipe away.
Another, I'd bonded the gas where it entered the house.. the gas meter was 50 feet away in a separate, small freestanding structure, with the pipe buried in the ground.
The point of the bond is create an equipotential zone within the premises, and in both examples the service is bonded at its origin within said premises. Is the gas meter that relevant?
The joke is the gas fitters only interest/test is he has a "earth clamp and bit of wire" box to tick on his safety checklist.. what the wire does is of no interest! I told one to put a clamp on himself and tick his box if it bothered him so much but seemingly it wasn't so much at that point!
Thoughts?
