HI!everybody help me. How do you test a power transformer? and what is test for? thanks!

If your talking about a power distribution Transformer ie ...11000/415/240 volts, then without being funny, ....unless you know what your doing, you shouldn't be getting involved in testing such transformers. And as you don't know what tests to perform or what these tests are for, ...Even more reason why you should be leaving such equipment to those that DO know!!!

Hell, I hope it's not a HV distribution transformer you're talking about.

Can you give more details or even better attach a photo. There's loads of different types of transformers and the testing procedures vary radically.

Come on lads surely you should know by now with questions like this you should have your crystal balls out to see what the op is talking about.

Could just be that the transformer is on his model railway and he don't want the fat controller hurt.

If he's talking about a HV distribution transformer then his brass balls trump any crystal balls you might have
