Found this little snippet whilst browsing the interweb......makes sense to me....

(This was written by a rig worker in the North Sea -

what he says makes a lot of sense!).

I work, they pay me.. I pay my taxes and the government

distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that

pay cheque, I work on a rig for a drilling contractor.

I am required to pass a random urine test for drugs and

alcohol, with which I have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my

taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a benefits
cheque - because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand that I have no problem with helping
people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand,
have a problem with helping someone to sit on their
bum drinking beer and smoking dope.

Could you imagine how much money the government would
save if people had to pass a urine test to get a benefit cheque?

also imagine the amount of jobs created in "Support groups" and also those lost at job centers as a urin test would drop the requirement for as many pen pushers
Im gonny ask the guys when they come canvasing for my vote see what reaction I get

And shortly to arrive on the forums is the do-gooders ,what about there civil liberties, tarring everyone with he same branch, invasion of privacy, etc etc etc , someone will be along but you know what , I DON'T CARE , as a male ,middle age, married, employed, paying my tax and ni,council tax, road tax, insurance and keeping leagal all the time ,what rights do we have ZERO, we do everything right and above board and get s**ged everytime , if they want benifit make them work for it,healthy ?no job? bingo there you go 2 years in the armed forces, and they'll pay taxes at the same time,
Im stopping now

Jamie

On the face of it, it sounds like a good idea. Where it falls down is that they'rd be a huge rush to the test center as the ones who have an excess of booze in their system would qualify for a liquour allowance.
It's true, alco's get an extra allowance to pay for their booze.

give layabout a job in the armed forces NO THANKS!! it was a hard enough job as it is with out dole scrounging jeremy kyle generation making it harder..!

i like to be able to trust the men (ocassionally women) i worked with in the NAVY and if i knew one of them was only there because the government made him i would feel pretty uneasy!

press ganging them into a job that requires strong and willing characters makes it dangerous! (speaking about this matter years ago with some Pongo's "ARMY" bless them) and they said the same thing! on the front line of Afghan they dont want a lazy half a job twit especially a half a job lazy twit armed with a SA80 rifle looking to get his next kick.!

That's the afgan national army m8:rolleyes:;)

oh right, still rather not have them there either as they have a tendency to accept bribes and carry out blue on blue killings..!! can just see some skinny scouser fresh from jermy kyle and the job centre accepting a pack of smokes and some hash to take out 3 british squaddies!!

best place for them is a hospital bed getting steralised!! at least a future generation wont have to suffer!

I reckon the government should get them to dig holes and chisel out wall chases for me while on dole money, and see how long it takes them to get a job in a nice warm call centre. That or Durham's steralisation idea, of course.

Would be good though, getting them labouring for nothing but their benefits until they get a job. Some of them might like it, and we'll get some cheap roads built!
