hi guys just after some advice and tips on making good

opps the down-light hole is to big after the ceiling has been painted
filling in a hole in the ceiling and matching the artex
filling in chases

also if your ask'd to move a light that is in the center of a room and cant access the above to lift floorboards etc how do you get your cables through the joists? bearing in mind your not supposed to notch joists from the bottom ??

cheers in advance

Plasterboard is usually thick enough for a 1.5T+E without notching....(Which you rightly say should not be done on the underside)

Ceiling is safe zone.

I love light weight filler for making good this kind of thing.

It really looks awfull though, needs lots of sanding/filling and painting......Try to do it from above.

I tend to clip it as it is a bugger to fill it it the cable keeps flopping down

Seriously though, this really should be a last resort as it does look terrible and takes ages to make good.......

if you were filling in a chase then is it best to use bonding let it go off then use finish plaster for the last say 3mm?
do you guys normally do the making good or tell them to get plastering in?

i=p/u has a good point there. It's worth getting to know a good plaster for making good. I know my limitations and I'm crap at plastering (and electrics but we won't go there, will we :D)

get someone to show you how to plaster - its a doddle. Gee a monkey could skim some multi finnish
I must be a lower life form than a monkey then :(

That's the one thing I haven't been able to do well yet. The odd bit of patching is ok, if involves a whole wall or artex, forget it. That's when I ring Maureen (or a mate).
