Guys just wondering what types of damage u come across vandalism wise.

Got a mate who works in street lights and a guy complained when he fitted one being to bright and to close to house window etc etc.

Anyway week later goes back bulb shade broken small hole and found a air gun pellet inside.

Obvious who it was to him anyway but just wondered what other people have encountered?

Ah I did many years in street lighting too, loads of bowls and lamps shot out, columns shaken like mad until really loose in the ground and door locks bunged up with all sorts of crap - and on one occasion found a bit of 1.5mm flex straight into the unmetered cut out heading off into a private garage....:uhoh2:

All the damage i have seen has been fire alarm related seeing as they seem to manage to annoy people the most. Best one was a out of hours call out to a self activating system in a block of flats which housed the more questionable people in life shall we say. Got to site to find one battered panel outside the front door, all wires chopped. Guess that won't be going off any more!

Also seen light fittings smashed from ceilings (live cables still hanging) amongst other things.

Working in alarms I have had customers snip all the cables to their own panel to try and make their alarm shut up.

They always forget the battery backup inside the bell which still keeps the alarm going!

I've seen a street light squashed by a static caravan when the siting crew were reversing it onto the caravan pitch with a little 4x4 that couldn't see round the girth of the static and 1 side unmanned. And on another occasion a bin wagon squashing one on the same site.

Also seen a static caravan fed from a street light. Kept tripping when he had more than the TV on, i wonder why that poor 6A MCB will of thought what an earth are you feeding me.

As for damage inside, mainly severe water damage when folk haven't stuck heads on properly. Drilling at the base makes a little waterfall.
