Hi all
I do a lot of kitchens and have done one recently were the sockets were all out. Ie **** to my disbelief. So I blamed the f***ing level as I Mark out by spirit level and pencil line. I've tried a laser level also this was good for a while. Until I drop it on the floor and then that went wonky. Anyway I was wondering if anybody has any alternative methods I could try out or and opinion on any said methods many thanks in advance

My only advice would be to try again when you're sober!

Just call it a feature! Get a laser level you can put on a stand in the middle of the room then you can rotate it and get every switch and socket on every wall level, there's no excuse for not being able to get things level really, unless of course you don't know how to use a spirit level in the first place!

Sort out a laser level again, how can you cock up with a spirit level?
What I do if I've not got the laser on the van is get a piece of 2x1 and fix it straight across the wall and then fix my boxes resting on the top of it, if that makes sense. Unfortunately you won't be able to do this as your spirit level skills are non existent.

also make sure the wood is not bowed!

i once made the mistake of leaving cables for 1 socket in a kitche dangling in the studdin and the builder was to cut the board and bring the cables out when he had fixed the board. his cut out was way oversized, pi$$ed, and 3" high.

My original trade is not an electrician and as a first year apprentice one of my jobs was to repair spirit levels which back then were made of wood for the frame with glass tubes for the bubbles. These invariable got smashed and I had to fit new ones. They were set on pieces of Plasticine then fixed with Plaster of Paris.

OMG, you're the man who puts the bubbles in spirit levels. All those poor apprentices who have been run ragged looking for a spirit level repairer who has a selection of bubbles to insert.

Well you should be named and ashamed......rascal !

Lol ..... dare I say that I produced miniature ladders to replace clips on skirting boards .....No, I didn't think you believed that

Yep ... that was me.

We bought the glass bubbles with the spirit& air bubble inside from a company in (I think) Harrogate and there were different sensitivities for different types of level. Very sensitive & accurate ones for Engineers' levels and not so sensitive for Brickies levels.

my leica is away getting repaired( or replaced) as its just over a year old
i really miss it as it gets used a lot.
it is useful for getting light fitting above an island spot on which is a task and a half at the best of times
for a kitchen with no laser, work out what corner the fitter is working out from and use this as your start point to draw a datum line from around the room.its usually the high point
