My summary:

Going up from £15 to £35 per install

Annual fees reducing from £110 to £55

Can only stockpile a few credits in advance. (I just tried to buy loads at the lower price - it's blocked).

Installers out of pocket if they do more than 3 installs per year !

they've screwed us out of £800 if they don't agree to my emailed request for additional credits at the old rate, as that's the value of difference in cost on the mcs certs for new build contracts we already have in our pipeline in various stages of completion but that we can't certify until the house is finished due to the daft EPC rules.

As of lunchtime today (19th) you can buy up to 70 credits though if you then suddenly register a bunch they'll slap you :)

"Further to the communication sent on 15th September regarding the MCS Installation Fee increase process, the scheme has taken the decision to increase the purchasing cap to a maximum of 70 credits for a limited time.

The increase is expected to enable MCS Contractors across technologies to meet their deadlines for registering installations with MCS prior to RHI regulations coming into force on 20th September and the MCS fee increase being implemented on 22nd September.

The 70 credit cap will be in effect from noon on 19th September until 23:59 on 21st September 2017.

Any current credit balance will contribute towards this new cap e.g. if you have already purchased 5 credits, you may purchase up to 65 further credits.

Please be aware that any installation registration activity thought to be beyond the assessed capability of the certificated MCS Contractor may be investigated and/or referred to the relevant Certification Body."

Now the fee increase has been postponed !?!

So, those of us who shelled out to stock up on credits in advance are shafted...temporarily at least.

I guess it was a simple way for MCS to get a quick cash boost from anxious installers.
