hi was just wondering where most of you buy your materials from mainly cable and consumer units. i have been shopping around just lately and have found diy stores are selling products cheaper than my local wholesalers. so was wondering where the rest of you buy from. considering we need to be competative nowadays.
cheers for your responses.

All electrical goods we buy from the wholesaler but any fixings we get from screwfix. We get pretty good discount at our wholesaler and they are never a problem with account payments if they are a bit late.

I thought my wholesalers are quite competitive until I asked for 50m of 10mm green and yellow £77 plus the Vat. Looked in Screwfix 50m BASEC approved 10mm £33.95 inc VAT and £5 delivery that isn't low smoke but still:mad: I did compare more of their prices but most of it was the same price or alot cheaper, wholesalers throw you a curve ball more times than you think.

i went to cef for a wylex 17th edition 10 way c.u yesterday and they quoted £67.25+vat and £2.95+vat per mcb. yet screwfix (next door to cef) display the same c.u and pre loaded for £79.98 inc. also b+q are doing basec approved 2.5mm t&e 50m for £20.00. surely somethings amiss.

the wholesaler i use will match if possible any price anyone else has so i am happy using him, really good relationship with them, but on the same scale i don`t ask him to price match as i know he does the best he can on prices and if B&Q put there prices up i would not want him to match them £* odd for a wylex breaker:eek:
never had a problem with him if i want it dropping it`s dropped the same half day and no re stocking charge on anything that needs to go back.

Is that BASEC approved?
I've heard B&Q sell rolls of cable with a BS number but the BS number only relates to the reel, not the actual cable.

Yes BASEC approved. Well stamped it is. Then again so is all the Chinees and all the other imposter cable.

Cant remember name exactly, King Cable I think.
And before anyone says anything no its not Peking Cable.

Also finding B&Q bit cheaper on a few things, especialy on MK, than Screwfix.
