You should be nice to them, for the sacrifices they gave.

There is a nice article about a Grom class Polish warship helping defend the Isle of Wight during a German bombing run during WWII.
All in jest @SWD I promise, nothing but the utmost respect to all who served I assure you :)

If you want to really confuse them... if it's say ÂŁ9.70 I sometimes give them the odd 20p... I reckon 9 times out of 10, they immediately give you back the 20p !
Not necessarily confused Zerax.
You've paid ÂŁ10.20, so 50p change. If I was on the till, you'd get what I wanted to get rid of, normally smaller change. So more than likely 20s and 10s while I hold on to 50s. Unless you specifically asked for a 50p.

You work as a cashier in a shop?

Shocked........ or is it at an electrical wholesalers..... ;o)))))

I still try and stop it on a round figure even when I'm paying by card. I think its just my OCD though. :D
i do the same .trouble is the price of fuel, just a teaspoonful clocks up a penny or 3.

Why pay for fuel with cash? Use a card and any penny over nonsense is a non-issue.
Ah.. but you see I use it as a challenge to test out my reactions. If I miss the first rounded figure then I try and stop it at the next. I've often been at a pump stop starting, anyone watching must think I'm a proper nut job, they'd be correct of course:confused::D

My father in his 80's still drives around in an old van..bless. He is still quite a competent driver considering. Though these days he often puts petrol in rather than diesel, he also drives all round town finding the cheapest rate but again miss reads the sign and thinks he's found somewhere with really cheap diesel only to realise too late that it was in fact unleaded he had seen.

this is where Ford (and maybe others) have got wize. my lady's Ford diesel has a clever fuel filler that a petrol nozzle won't fit in.
