is there some kind of compatability list anywhere regarding what breakers will fit in what board?
And specifically in this board :)

Just had a look at pics mate and i will hold my hands up on this one and say i wouldn`t know but at a guess wouldn`t protius fit? It may be best to whip one out and take it to the wholesalers to get a match but i guess you would have thought of that already..lol.......
Best of luck with this.
Glenn.

Hi ringer, pretty sure that "basics" is the economy brand from Denmans, so maybe if you have a local branch give them a call. They do steeple too so perhaps that they might fit too. Hope that helps.

Regards wa

Basics stuff is sold through Denmans. Does look a bit like a ****ty Proteus board?Btw there was a separate thread this week snout not mixing different makes of breakers onto boards due to manufacturers guidelines etc. Thought I should just mention it.

Its a judgement call

You either find and fit the correct brand of MCB, or fit one that should physically be ok.

Remember by fitting another brand you will be going against BS7671 and you will be liable if anything should happen

That's the drawbacks of fitting unusual brands of MCB's

Give the client the choice of new c/u or different replacement MCB of another brand

What about your Ford Transit with Halfords window wipers

Spot on, been collared for this before, i was told it was different operating temperatures within the mcb's

One further FYI ,you know the Square D KQ range with the plug in forks? you cant remove them forks and put them into a normal DIN mountable DB, your basiclly voiding the warrenty, same with fitting different make of MCB's

Best thing to do really if you want to just retrofit another make is take one exisiting MCB out, lay it flat on some paper and draw around it, then take that paper to your wholesalers and try a few different ones till it matchs, the shape does look similar to merlin or square D mind or "Schnider" as they are known now

Also gotta say that D/B looks kack !, quote the customer for a board change :p

Point one..... The chances are that any of the MCBs that fit this CU, will be made in the same factory (wherever that maybe) even if it does have a different manufacturers name on them.

Point two.... What bloody numpty came up with the idea of installing a CU in a Kitchen cabinet?? ....Sheer bloody lunacy!!!!
