As title !

Single entry ground front door. twin stairs to basement . Each side of basement (It was knocked into one years ago) has its own fire escape etc .


what would be the Basic level of Fire/smoke detection equipment that"should be required" for each of the 2 floors ?

What ever the fire officer and building control want.
 
Horizon did a documentary on this a few years back. Fascinating. With Alan Davis presenting. Length of string not fire alarms
 
Hmm...if you tie the ends together it isn't infinite really. IMHO. It can then be arranged as a circle with length = circumference, by pie arse squared.
If it was flat string with 2 distinct sides and you twisted it before joing the ends well then you would have a Mobius strip, which some might agree has infinite length...however, you would still meet the starting point if you actually measured it with a tape...

Contact your wholesaler and ask them to get their fire alarm supplier to do a survey or take a look at your plans. Most suppliers offer this service for E/Lighting and fire alarms for free and will comeback with a design. If you're not sure its probably best that you don't take the responsibility of designing it.
