Megaman 11w low energy GU10 .... rubbish !!

Anyone else had problems with these.... Megaman 11w low energy GU10 ?

Recently fitted a kitchen with 6 of these as specified by customer, and 2 have given up already after a couple of months ??

Makes me look a bit stupid as I was saying they should last a good year, suppose I should have know better buying 'wilts plus' stuff... not again.

So now comes the job of changing them all. What do you chaps recommend instead ? Maybe an LED is the best bet, but bit more pricey ?

Just started to fit Kosnic 7w GU 10 and Kosnic 4w led GU 10.

Hope they last as the 7w are £4 4w led are £9 each.

The bulbs cost more than the fitting the customer supplied.

that price can't be correct for the 7w. sorry, misread. thought was 7w led for £4. must be cfl at that price.

I use Super Compact 7w GU10's I've got some that have been on constant for over 2 years and still going strong (yes constant - NEVER been turned off)

Bit pricey but worth every penny....

thought the full title was " can't find light". i do some work on a residential home, cfl's in the passages. i have to use a torch to see what i'm doing. get more light from my zippo

My house is full of them, includes 10 dimmers as well, never had problem with them and they ain't cheap. Been in a good couple of years as well now.

Me too mate, I have over 12 of those CFLs in my house.
They are all Sylvania branded and the 11w version and cost about £5 each at the time i purchased them 2 years ago.

I have not had a failure in 2 years and I do a lot of switching where I turn on for a few seconds to do something and then it off.

My ones only take about 20 seconds to reach full intensely

Swapped them all over for Aurora 11w LED's, much better and bright staright away, quality lamp

That's why they've lasted so long, the turning on and off shortens the lamp life.

Before I renovated I had 58 x 50w 12v diachronic down-light fittings. I had them on two lighting circuits which totaled 14.3 amps load using an ammeter. They were costing a fortune in electricity to run plus with the heat we used the air conditioners unnecessarily which compounded the cost.

After the renovations I replaced all lighting with wrought iron pendant fittings which take 2 x 14w CFL lamps each. I have three times the floorspace of the original house and the lighting load is about a third of the down-lights at 4.7Amps. I used Philips CFL's which cost me ZAR14.00 (about one pound fifty) VAT inclusive each and I haven't had a single lamp failure in 18 months. To me it's a no brainer, the only thing I miss is not having a dimmer in the lounge, I overcame this annoyance with a standing lamp that illuminates straight upward..
