Getting fed up with trying to squeeze all my test leads kewtek adaptors etc in small compartment of megger case....

Would like to buy additional protective case to put all these bits in along with my clamp meter + test lamp, and just keep the megger hard case for tester alone, any ideas ? something 350 x 150 x 100 in size would be ideal... been looking on ebay but not really coming up with much

Anyone else experience same prob?

Many Thanks,

Sy

I make plaster of paris moulds and melt down old pop bottles to make all sorts of plastic stuff including cases, it's pretty easy to do and you can get exatcly what you want, but I'd recommend melting the plastic outside on the burner or barbecue (on an old pan, of course)

The old megger bag was pretty good, used to be able to get commando socket plugs adaptors into that, along with some other contraptions

Good idea, not sure I could be bothered with the hassle though and no doubt after doing it I'd end up adding something else to it. What do you use for a case though?

Yep think it is going to be the best thing to do.... do away with the plastic megger case (or melt down!) and go and get a engineers/flight case. Did have a look a couple in b+q a while back, but load of cheap cr@p... none of the inside dividers would stay in and just generally really flimsey. Are the Halfords ones half decent then?

Thanks Sy

CK make an electricians tool case which I find works great. Enough room for the tester, leads, certs, a few tools and accessories.

It's only about ÂŁ40 and does the job a treat.

I'm using my DiLog original case, but I stripped out the original moulded interior and put in decent small sections so my leads don't tangle (as much) a moulded area for basic 3Xdrivers and snips, strip connector (for test purposes only) pen, lock off with padlock and tape. Has also now got a pocket on the back for test certs and I've put in some of that acoustic foam that they have in sniper rifle cases in films. It's a tidy little test kit, and you can get away with a hell of a lot of minor jobs just using it.

I currently aquired a Royal Mail bag (empty!) and am working on a nice new toolbag that will be somewhere between a DJs record bag and a Veto Pro.

If you don't mind spending a bit of cash, then go for one of these babies...

Peli have an unconditional 'you break it, we'll replace it, forever' guarantee.

These are the favourites of professional photographers, and whilst sparks test equipment is not cheap, it pales into insignificance compared to the value of kit those guys use. If they are happy to entrust their gear to them, then that says a lot.

:D
