Did a test today and while carrying out the testing, my megger had a zs on ground floor sockets as 101 ohms, end to ends were what I was expecting for the length 0.24 r1 0.25 rn, ze 0.13, tested all other circuits ok readings were good, all except g/f sockets, took everything off and found a few loose connections, repaired as I went, and after checking all sockets/spurs etc still nothing obvious as to why its so high, even changed the rcbo, I borrowed my friends robin unit and it seemed to get a reading straight away on the problem circuit and didn't show a problem, anyone else had this before?

My tester was calibrated in feb this year and have never had a problem, use it every day and have never come across this

could be a problem with the rotary selector switch. poor contact on the no trip. try link out RCD and test on hi. remember to reinstate RCD after testing though.

This may sound silly but try changing the batteries!!! My 1552 gives funny readings when the batteries get below 9v!! Not sure if its the same as the 1553 but worth a try.

Yeah tried new batteries, it was only on this one circuit, was driving me mad. When I had it connected with the 3pin plug it messed around, kept beeping like it had an error, then the voltage kept changing between 230 and 280. I put it on voltage and it stayed at 230, was tearing my hair out cause I thought it was my tester. Will try it again tomorrow on a known good circuit I suppose
