Hi, I have a megger 1741+ that won't perform the 1kv IR test.
Everything else on the tester is good but when I press test with 1kv IR settings it triple beeps, that's with the leads not connected to anything (or connected to a circuit).
Is there an easy fix for this or does it need sending back to megger?

Thanks

Can I check something - on Megger's IR testing is press and hold the test button, and for 1kv there is a delayed start for safety.
Are you pressing and letting go or pressing and holding?

Ahhhh, thank you! Just have to hold test through the warning beeps and it carries out the test... 🤦👍
Good stuff. That's a decent tester you have there.
When doing routine IR tests at 500v and 250v, still press and hold. My boss used to say 'don't be afraid to warm things up!'
Seeing how the IR changes with time can be informative, e.g. if the results improves the longer you hold it can suggest the test is drying out moist or damp cables.

Well done. Leads sound a bit high btw mine are 0.07 when warmed up. Rcd uplift - I either calculate Zs, or use the kitcher trick. See

Absolutely correct they hold water, shrouds are totally unnecessary. 20s is 24mm spanner, 20 large is 30mm spanner.
