hi guys hope all is good. I am new to this forum so this is my first post. you guys seem very knowledgeable and was wondering if i could pick your brains! I'm looking to get either a fluke 1653b with forms or a megger mft1553 onsite by this weekend. I've been looking all over the net but can't seem to find out which one is better. I've read that the fluke had 'dodgy' leads but they can be replaced which is not a problem. The other is that if the megger does phase rotation and earth electrode 3 spike test as the fluke does? which tester has better build quality and reliability, being more accurate and functionality?

thanking you in advance

In answer to your question, many electricians are voting for the Megger as its fairly bomb proof.

There have been a number of issues with the Flukes, but they may have been sorted with the release of the updated models.

this is an old thread lol.. I had.... till last week when it was stolen outa the back of my van (sidedoor handle wrenched off) a fluke 1653, now I was searching the web to see what peps think of the 1653bs & the meggars and came across this thread on our site.

Excellent :-) The case and leads are in good condition. Two live leads, one with a test button. Looks like ÂŁ30 well spent.
