hi
I was on a job testing incoming supply on a TT systems the earth loop reading was 2,53ohms now what my question is
It was a 2 commer 53 i am guesting that means 2.53ohms if you test result are lower you get 0.12 (point )why does it change to a commer or am i reading it wrong

Me neither wtf is a commer, I'm hazarding a guess he is refering to a punctuation mark I to LITERALLY have no idea

I just twigged on. Combination of his lack of spelling and on my part, it is a Monday lol. Just realised he meant 'comma'. So your test instrument is displaying 2,53Ohms instead of 2.53Ohms?

That's the way I took it..... Not too sure where he's going with the 0.12 thou.

I would say it was more 253 ohms rather than 2.53 if it was meant to be 2.53 it would say that instead of 2,53

you're showing how young you are now lol,a Commer was Bedfords answer to the Ford Transit, very popular in the 70's and early 80's,very reliable they were too.

Yep forgot that van, we had A35s on the firm I started with, although Commer's was a large department store in Bath, I'm free sort of thing, you know dodgy salesmen and sales ladies with a blue rinse

during my apprenticeship, we had austin J4 vans. diabolical things. the front crumple zone was your legs.

I, unfortunately usually got stuffed in the back making up pendant drops on the way to site, the youth of today???? "Do I get my own transport", they don't know they are born mollycoddled H&S has put a stop to all that malarky.

Yep me too, mK 3 escort van always put in the back, with the words if you brake it you own it, his dog always seat up front

To start with sorry about the spelling second the meter reading was 2,53 not 2.53 the question was the reading with the comma
The 0.12 was a example what the meter does normally
Why would it be 253 when the machine reads 2,53

The question was what does the comma stand for?

I would say it is probably a slight fault on the display LCD for the "point" symbol. The megger tends to show a sort of short downward line as a point anyway and if there is a, say, "2" to the left of the "point" then there may be the supply to the LCD to show the whole line and if it is a "0" to the left then it may show only part of the line.
However do check what units the measurement is in just in case it is showing 2,530 kΩ!
