Metal clad double sockets

Got one for a job, from cef.
connected bw gland 20mm into top centre face.

Went to fit faceplate and isn't designed to accept gland in from top. Utter rubbish.

Stick a coupler in the top and gland it off into that.

So easy with a little bit of thought, you'd do the same with MICC, terminate into a coupler as post No 2 has said lol

Could post a link to what you mean, any type of adapter/connector that is fitted to the box will have a hex nut locking it inside, this is what is causing the faceplate not to fit on, the gland itself is fine, it is the locknut inside that is the problem.

A 20mm coupler and bush what you use with metal conduit, it wont catch the front plate.

Surely the bush edge is as wide as the locknut an similar depth, to be able to get spanner or finger around to tighten, this would give the same effect of obstructing the innererds of the face plate.

If the faceplate is turned 180 ie cable and gland comming from underneath, the the faceplate fits, it just hasn't been designed to accept cable glands comming in from the top IMO

Had the same problem on a recent job with probably the same city special socket. A bush and coupler will fit in nicely.

A bush isn't as wide nor will you have the gland coming through which I expect is the bit catching the back of the socket.

I doubt any double metalclad will take a gland in the top - middle, it's where the switches normally are.

Ridiculous post, you obviously use a coupler and bush and gland into that, don't these colleges teach you anything these days haha

change the gland locknut for a round lockring. ;-)
has a smaller foot print and looks less daft than coupler stuck on the top

Hmm, na, could still be a problem as the gland may stop the socket from closing properly, a lock ring won't help really Biff.

use a locking ring instead of the nut you get with the gland.
