Anybody fixed to these? Looked at a 10kw today with this type of tiles.

Hanger bolts and loads of sealant???

yes, yes.

think to watch out for is the structure supporting the roof is probably a lot weaker than normal as it's only taking a much smaller load than for tiles, assuming the roof was built this way.

The one we did had rafters at 1m centres, so we ended up doubling up rafters and adding noggins between them to mount to.

The rafters are at 450 centres and its 80% vaulted so adding timber isn't an option. I need to get in touch with whoever built it I think.

Not sure what 'type'
He had a spare one not fitted and its line a pressed metal panel that's powder coated to look like a row of tiles. It's about 1m x 0.5m.
You can't remove them I think they are nailed to the lats.
I can't see any other way to fix other than hanger bolts.

I think I know the ones. We installed double variable roof hooks on them. They can be removed, but they take a bit of time. They're nailed from the front if I recall; pull these out and you're away. The tiles can be cut around the hooks.

Make sure you use a board to crawl around on or you'll damage the tiles.

Thanks solarcity. I would rather use hooks if possible. When you say double variable is that variable at two different points? Why do you need to use those?

Yeah, double variables are adjustable at two different points. It's the hook that we tend to stock as it can be used on most roofs. To be fair, as long as you measure what size hook you need beforehand, you shouldn't need to use them.

you'll need to properly check this out in advance - the one we did had supporting battons running behind the front edge of each tile, with the tiles then nailed to the battons through the front, and no overlap on the actual tiles, so there'd have been no way of using brackets on it that I could see.

I forget how we did ours now but we definitely used a small bit of lead and it wasn't that tricky either.

We did look at hangar bolts but were concerned about future movement or sagging of the tiles eventually leading to leaks.
