I have an Emlite EML15 meter attached to my PV system. I discovered a burning smell in my garage yesterday and found that the meter had got very hot and the bolt attaching the cover below the meter had started to melt the plastic surrounding it. It was a very sunny day and the heat went way once it stopped producing (obviously).

Does anyone know what the problem could be and if I isolate the system do I need to isolate the AC and DC side.

Steve

Sounds like a loose connection. You need to get the original installer out to sort it. If there is enough damage then the meter will need changing. If this happens then you'll need to liaise with your FIT provider as well as your installer.

Hi - sorry to hear that! I am sure the more experienced folks here will chip in, but as the sun is shining already I would be isolating the whole thing.
