CRAIGNEWHAM

Morning,

Ive just changed a CU and the existing meter tails were 16mm. I have put new ones on that are 25mm, and connected these to the 16mm from the meter in a henley block. The flat has a 100A main fuse. I am going to use this as one of my locations for my NIC assesment. Should I ask the supplier (British gas) to come and change the meter tails from the meter to the henley block? do they normally charge for this?
Are distributers not non-conforming every time they put a 100A fuse in with less than 25mm tails?
I know its highly unlikely that this will ever be a problem, but I just want to make sure I do everything right.
There must be lots of domestic properties that have 100A fuses and dont have 25mm tails?
Thanks for any help
Craig

Because i work or bg as a meter specialist andhavedonefor the past 4 years. Ive never heard of customers being charged for tails as the customer does not own the tails they belong to the supplier
Ive never heard of tails being charged for, despite my protests i was told that this was the cost, maybe a mistake by call center, or BG new policy??, will see what happens next time I need the same.........

BG have just charged a customer of mine ÂŁ43 for isolator and another ÂŁ43 for tails, said they were charged out as two separate jobs, i felt this was excessive??

Hi mate I got BG to fit 100A dp isolator, tails on there side and they fitted a new digi meter all for ÂŁ39 they told me whichever one or all you have ÂŁ39

but not sure if this includes the cutout as that didnt need upgrading on me brothers

Have used a few different DNOs - think 2 of them were EON and Scottish Power ( not sure of the others but not British Gas mind) and they have always fitted isolators for free on request and upgraded tails to isolator at same time.

The tails only really need upgrading to fit in with the 100A fuse (its a flat so unlikely to need anything like that), so they shouldnt really charge just for a tails upgrade. I'll be ringing BG next week so Ill see what they say

I might have got lost here, but the rotary iso is rated at 63A so 25mm armoured still wouldn't make the install satisfactory. Assuming everything...
