Hi guys came across meter tails buried less than 50mm no rcd protection but did have some red capping over and they are in prescribed zone about a meter between main fuse and consumer unit.

TNS system.

C2 or no code??

Depends what the red capping is. If it affords protection to comply with 522.6.204 (iv) then no code.
I would usually apply C3 to cables buried less than 50mm with no RCD for additional protection.

A section that resists penetration (3mm steel is usually considered adequate) does not have to be earthed for that reg. Normal capping would not be suitable.

If using something else i think it has the be conduit or trunking to BS standards and earthed.

Years ago as an apprentice, we put tails into 20mm steel conduit when buried in the plaster. So 3 tracks and 3 pipes. Boards where below the staircase, dunno why my boss never asked the builders for the pirmelli box to be located level with the area the Fusebox was installed.
