Hi All

Normally meter tails are the customer responsibility from meter to CU. However just been to look at a job that has a new sealed meter and main fuse. A main switch has been installed between meter and CU. Does this mean that DNO are now responsible for tails up to the main switch they installed. They have advised customer to upgrade tails.

Havent been to look at the job yet but would like some feed back before I go

Thanks in advance for your views.

Hi mate.

Usually if the DNO supply and fit the main isolator they will feed into their side and then seal the cover on that side leaving the other side unsealed for you to connect your tails into.

Something like this...

Thanks Lenny I take it then that anything prior to that on the sealed side is nothing to do with me. Mind you Im only going on the customers say so at the moment, hope to visit site tomorrow.

As I understand it if you are not registered then you have to inform building control and they will want a payment. You can then issue a certificate and they are supposed to check your work. If you are registered building control are not involved nor is the payment.

I asked my council what they would charge for this £120.00 plus VAT.
