Hi guys got a assessment coming up this monday. Got a new meter as above, but didnt come with Fused test leads, i practiced without these, and know how to use the instrument well....

I purchased the fused test leads on monday, and have done 2 Ze tests on 2 differant properties with my boss, and each time the fuse blows in the Line probe.

Im doing a Ze test as per instructions in manual, select Loop L-E, discon main earth croc clip to earth, N probe then Line Probe, press start and and get rcd message..... go to do it again, says no voltage...
I then test my fuses out the probes and the line probe fuse has blown....

I just read on here on another thread that my tester can aslo do Ze by linking up E-N probes together and clip it to earth, and put probe on line..... Well done this and got the same outcome.....

Has anyone else had this problem, i get the feeling im screwed for monday now!!!!

Cheers guys

Don't use fused leads for Ze or Zs as the fuses in the leads are only about 500mA.

When conducting these tests your meter puts out a current of about 25A therfore blowing the fuses.

so basically all that im doing is right, what about the regs about using fused test leads, is this just another contridiction that made up to make the book bigger LOL:)

Should not be a problem not using fused leads i had my assessment last week using the same meter just piggy back earth and neutral leads to disconnected main earth and line lead to live terminal.
