Hi guys any idea what 100m drums of 2L1.5 pyro would fetch for scrap? Don't really fancy taking a drum down to find out.

No it's been stored inside. 5 of the drums still have the plastic round and ones had about a metre taken off it. I know if its left out it doesn't take long to get moisture in.

Would you fancy buying old micc? I wouldn't.

I'd have no problem with that at all!!

Moisture rarely penetrates more than a metre, and probably a lot less if the ends are left exposed!! I can remember picking up a part used coil of MICC from our works stores, that had been left in an open cable yard for months during my apprenticeship. All the sparks did, was pass across a soft flame from a blow touch for a few minutes at both ends.... Probably still working to this day!! lol!!

Might have been cauterized to seal the end up.....as if your going to lose more than a couple of foot

It's an old wives tale that, and in most cases you'd strip a couple of foot or more anyway for a DB termination!! I've never seen a previously exposed MICC cable end, not be brought back to being totally serviceable, by chasing the moisture out, via a heat source... And i'm not just talking about the small sized MICC's either!!

If you don't, or don't want to believe me, check with any of the manufacturers!!

You surely don't think I was serious with that one, pal.

Never heard of cauterizing legs when feet are chopped off then ? lol.

I recommend you keep it, I have a drum, well about 40 mtrs I suppose of 3L1.5 with orange pvc covering which is probably 15 years or more old LOL, I use the odd bit off the drum now and again for special Jobs wink wink
