Impact driver with screw end flat bit - controlled and accurate - doesn’t need any pressure on it, it just pulls its way through. I wouldn’t use a drill anymore, ridiculous amount of self energy needed.
Ear foams for the noise and onward you go. Goes through big oak and easy pine.

I used a 10.8v Bosch for 1 1/2 years and it’s still going strong. The 18v has taken over and I still believe in using it for holes in joists. I’ve introduced many other sparks to it and have got a few out of a tricky situation (last of space etc)
Member Joe introduced me to it - revelation I tell you.

Hole hawg, with a milwaukee 25mm nail proof auger.
Il like to have a race aggainst a 10.8 impact with a flat bit in it..
It’s ON - you bring the soft drinks and I’ll bring the victory cup! You’ll be pleasantly surprised. A revelation I tell you!
Edit- especially when I’m holding the body of the impact with 2 fingers and not worrying about snapped wrists or crushed fingers!
