I have a customer who lives in a permanent park home. They want extra sockets in the lounge area. I have used trunking many times before but not in this scenario.

They want minimal disruption to their decor. My thoughts are that I would use mini trunking in part of the install. I can spur off a socket on a RFC and drop the cable from the existing socket in the cavity to just above the skirting board where I will bring the cable to the surface and use mini SA trunking to take the cable along the wall (about 3metres) just below where the new socket will be. I can then drop back into the cavity and up to the new socket.

This will leave mini trunking running horizontally above the skirting but no cables or trunking visible on the run up to the sockets.

Can anyone see any problems with this? Neatish job I think with no decor issues to the original room. I don't know what sort of battening they have behind their walls (to take cables direct to new position) and I need to keep in safe zones!

(Before anyone asks, they have a TNCS system and the sockets are already protected by a 30mA RCD. The earthing and bonding comply with the latest regs)

Cheers

PP

Sounds OK, you could use quadrant trunking to have less of an effect, may be worth finding out if there is a cable run along the top of the wall, or you could use quadrant trunking at the top of the wall as a section of coving, possibly extending it from wall to wall.

I didnt think TNCS was allowed at caravan parks etc?

Can you get access underneath (little hatch), and run cables underneath the home?

generally not difficult, as londonlec says, to go under the home, clipped to the under side .think you'll find the cavities are only 1" deep ( no 3 x 2 here )

Thanks all, I will check the hatch out. BTW, it is one of those nice small park home places where the over 50's live. It's permanent and they are all TNCS apparently. Nothing temporary about it!!
