Minor electrical work

Hi,

I have just replaced some domestic sockets, light switches and light fittings (new for old) and completed minor electrical installation works certificates. As the work is not an 'addition' or 'alteration'? are the certificates strictly necessary?

Not for like for like swaps, but it shows the customer that you've done tests and recorded them. Will also confirm that everything is alright with the circuits after you've worked on them, so in a way it can cover your --- in case you end up with a customer who 2 weeks down the line has a problem and blames it on you.

agreed not req. In these cases I either do a minor works and note it is a like for like replacement or just write the insul resistance and Zs on the invoice (to prove all was well when I left the job), depends how busy I am. Looks more professional though.
