so your nice new fitting is as it was before not sutable for the enviroment, but hey, your just replacing like for like!!!! good luck when that bite you in the arse. as above... gu10s in zone 1,, but hey it was ok before!!!

I wana replace all the down lighters in my bathroom, they all rusted and hanging out I think they are 230v, and i cant see any trans formers.... please replace these i will pay but hey its just a replacement like for like isnt it, so you dont have to worry...
I really enjoy my super bright lights why i shower...

so your bathroom ceiling is less than 2.25m high is it?

There is no mention of 'like for like' in schedule 4 - a replacement is a replacement.

As I said above, if the work leaves the installation less safe than before, then it should not be done.

I.e. unearthed exposed part where there was not one before.

This is hardly the same as refusing to replace a switch without changing a CU. where everything complies.

Is the customer a landlord by any chance?

I'd advise changing the 3036s for 1361s. Costs about ÂŁ7.50 each and instantly upgrades the wiring and uses a much safer fuse.

You do not need supplementary bonding in kitchens !

Does the bathhroom need supplementary bonding have any tests been carried out?

Unless every circuit in the bathroom is RCD protected then the location will ALWAYS require supplementary bonding.

always assuming there are any extraneous or exposed conductive parts that might need it. I suspect this is what tony meant.... ;)

Well for a start all of the cpcs of the circuits in the location require supplementary bonding.

There may only be one.

Bonding is not 'yes or no' by looking at the pats in the room.

exactly. most bathrooms have one circuit, the lights.

even if there was another cct would you really pull the house apart on a 30 year old install to bond between two circuits if everything on those circuits was class II?

You would only have to install RCD, upgrade bonding etc if you were carrying out installation work, straight replacement is ok
