Hi all,
Just needing to upgrade a mk 5780s RCD to a type A so I can fit a car charger. Does anyone know if a MK Sentry RCD will fit, or have the dimensions changed?

Happy Friday

Jon

Seem a pretty good match. The bottom terminals are spot on, in terms of where the bus bar is pressed against. The top terminals are 2-3mm further back, but that's where the tri-rated cable goes so should be ok.

In the first picture (of the bottom terminals), it looks like the one on the right (Type A) is very slightly lower, but this is just the poor lighting and the difference in terminal sizes that makes it look that way.

That's awesome, thank you very much! Looks close enough!

Have a great weekend 😊
You just dropped lucky... I'm replacing one on Tuesday next week so have the new one in, and I replaced another one a few weeks ago and kept the old one as an emergency spare. If you'd asked before yesterday, or after Tuesday, I wouldn't have been able to send photos!

I would be concerned that the new MK stuff (with the H prefix) may not be suitable for the older MK Sentry units- this from the end of the current MK Sentry catalouge

Why do you think this makes them potentially unsuitable? They have been clearly designed to be a 'continuity' MK Sentry equivalent at least in looks and branding etc and there is nothing to suggest they are not compatible in MI. Dimensions wise as above. I have replaced a couple of DP RCDs as suggested above with no issues. I did recently replace a Sentry MCB with a current Type A RCBO and whilst that fitted pretty well and the busbar lined up perfectly, the busbar finger was a little long for the depth of the terminal so required a small lick of the file. A crime has been commited I realise that and will probably never sleep soundly again.
