Mk consumer unit

Has anyone recently bought a fully populated, 16 way consumer unit?
Bought one today and noticed the 6a mcb's were different, took it back to the whole salers who opened up 2 more that we're the same, anyone else had this?

Looks like they are using a different Chineese factory to make the 6a ones.

Them populated CUs are Chinese rubbish, absolute horrendous.

Looks like they just redesigned the MCBs a bit, as the model number is the same.

Think the only thing thats UK made are their switches and sockets

Looking at it again the numbers are different, 5916s and 5906s for the 6a

Think the ones on the left are the old design, all the ones I've bought are the style on the right

Unless the ones on the left are very very new design

Hi all

had the same bout a month ago, raised the issue with the wholesalers and they contacted mk and said thats the new design and that the boards will be mixed untill all the old designs have gone.......wasnt too impressed.

don't get problems like that with BG boards, and they're a lot cheaper.

Last time i used bg breakers you had to be very carefull not to overtighten them, otherwise the whole terminal came out from the top.....that was a couple of years ago though, they may be better now though.

Could be worse, could of been a mem (or whatever they're called now) and wouldn't of been compatible with a unit made 5 minutes ago :lol:

I use square D mostly very good boards never had any problems used them for over 7 years. I wouldn't be happy fitting a new board with different style breakers looks armature.
