Does anyone know if there are any published reports about this - would make interesting reading?

Have to say I try and get customers to pay for Hager, as to date I've never had a problem with them as a make

There was a report published, can't honestly remember who by, but it was an institution that is commercially funded by the very manufacturers it was going to be reporting on,....and not a non-biased publicly funded institution. What a load of old codswallop that was!! It was actually trying to convince the reader, that failures were so low it wasn't worth worrying about. In the most part blaming homeowners not pushing the test button regularly. The reports total number of devices it based it's conclusions on was again so low, i don't know how they had the cheek to come out with the final conclusions. You could drive a bus through the holes in this so-called report!!

Far better i think to go on personal experiences, and even genuine reports such as the OP of this thread. How many times have we seen this on the forum, ....it's like not a day goes by, without a thread concerning an RCD failure of one kind or another is seen here.
The last project i was involved with, the contractor was returning failed RCD devices of all types in box loads, and all went through the company test lab prior to being returned too... These weren't your budget type devices either, but top of the range stuff by one of the most respected manufacturers of electrical equipment...

I`v got a loads of new MK 1, 2 and 3 gang switch fronts in storage at home and i dont like the terminations on em at all...neither do i like the way that if you are a bit too handy tightening the terminations it knackers the mechanisms on em n all.....seen better........

yeah mate i too have found MK sockets and switch terminals on the new logic range to be very poor indeed out of the 6 double sockets i ftted had to take back 3 as the N terminal would not terminate correctly and as you say when i tried to apply pressure because the slots are notdeep enough then it strips first and alst time i will use them

BG sockets i bought as replacements were a lot more durable

when we were on site we used hager baords and legrand sockets and they never gave any problems
