MK has urgently recalled 37 versions of its Essentials double socket range over a high risk of fire
 
Local Authority Trading Standards have issued a product recall of MK Electric, MK Essentials switched socket-outlet.
Date: 9th December 2024
Risk Type: Fire
Sales Period: 2018 to 3rd July 2024
Risk Description: The product presents a high risk of fire as it has been identified that when the switch on the socket is being switched on, switched off, or whilst it is under load, there is a possibility for an arc flash to occur. This could cause the socket and surrounding materials to ignite, causing a fire.
The affected sockets do not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.
 
From 2018!

So all these council jobs that have specced MK sockets for the past 6 years are going to have to be changed?
MK going to pay for sparks time?

Something to be sad for Screwfix LAP and BG


What about the “next big thing” when MK introduced the lever connections on sockets.
