All employers, employee and self employed are required to assess the H&S risks and take action to reduce them, read the article, web linked below.

RE : construction sites : where there’s HSE Rule apples
they may be a pain in the but !!
it there to save your life ,
that why there’s a Buddy system , Ps, if you are on the Mobil who watching MY BUT , !!!!!!!!!!!

One of the films which our H & S department shows is the use of a mobile phone by a scaffolder after being told they where not to be be used.

Story ends with him a paraplegic and innocent bystander who nearby dead, that is why the are being banned on sites because if you are in the middle of doing something when the phone rings someone else can be hurt due to your neglect by answering the phone.

What is an approved person. What if you need to keep the mobile on for emergency reasons:confused:

You give the site agent's (approved person) phone number for emergencies like you had to years ago before mobiles where ever thought off.

Good, ive had soo many arguments with people on sites using there bloody mobiles.
Wish the things had never been invented.

Workmates texting, or gotta make a urgent call(not urgent at all) or get called by someone ( normally some dosser whos playing psp at home) to talk about going out in a couple of days time.

Save it for lunch breaks or after work, all phones should be turned off on site......doesnt matter who you are.

People will argue that "god forbid" you had a family emergency or somthing that you needed to know about but people got on fine before mobile phones were around.

Rant over:D

Mobiles are a pain generally....using them whilst on any site is disrespectful to employers or clients. However, we've all gotta make a buck and I usually let mine ring to the answerphone and then call people back during breaks (except salesmen).

Well.........the bloody things have been invented, we will need to keep using them to keep up with others who will use them (banned or not), but perhaps they could stop texting functions

I run a business and my phone is my central point of my business for breakdowns and earning money but with respect i use a jawbone bluetooth so can still carry on with my job but its essential to bring business in now but i understand most employees think using phones on site to ring and arrange p...-ups with mates is acceptable is out of order, i think the rules should have exeptions for employers, foremen etc as site management is easier with mobile use.
