mock question

hi Guys,

Two of many questions i need answers to if you can help me,

1, Is it the Designer who decides the date of the first periodic periodic after the initial verification or is it the Inspector ?. G.N.3 -SECTION 2.5 seems to say that its the inspector who decides the date of the first periodic , im confused.

2 Amock 2391 exam question reads,
a continuity of main protective conductors test is to be carried out in an office. the point of connection for the services is 30m away from the main earthing terminal .State

a. The equipment other then the test instrument that will be required in order to obtain atest result
b. The action to be taken with the main protective conductors .
c. One hazard to building occupants which may be created with the test process.

Im not sure if they are refering to c.p.c's or main earting conductor ,

regardless of which one of the above they mean i.e cpc or main earthin conductor ,wouldnt you just use the loop in method at the c. u with the crocodile clip as you would normally which also gives your r1 and r2 readings?. The questions seem to be refering to the long lead methods .

Your feed back is much appreciated

1) it's actually both.
2) a) They are refering to main protective conductors (used to be known of as main bonding conductor) not the earth conductor or CPCs. A wander lead will be required.
b) The purpose of this test, is to ensure that the conductors are continuous, to that end they will have to be disconnected at each end so as there are no parallel paths.
c) There will be no equipotential bonding, and earth potential differences can be imported into the equipotial zone.

Read 134.2.2

Should make it all nice and clear.
:)

i understand what your saying about unable to switch off but disconecting earth and still supplying power to potential dangerouse equipment that could become live, riskof potential voltage entering building via pipework structural, risk assesment, potential to damage equipment?
if unable to switch off what do they do if power cut?
