Well done gents. I've got a feeling ElectroChem has probably had a little more experience in this field than you Steve.

The main thing is that your learning something. Are you happy with the level were at, not just understanding how it's working but why?

I think what would aid my confidence (and possibly other's?) is knowing (a) what the proper symbols and terminology are for stuff, and (b) what sort of products are out there. Maybe a manufacturer of motor control systems/contactors etc has a good catalogue?

When the first question was set, I was a bit nervous in replying because although I understood (some of!) the theory, I wasn't confident in how to express it. It was only after ElectroChem posted his sketches that I thought, "Ah, right, that sort of thing. Cool."

So yep, I think we're away. Cheers (both of you!).
