I want to move a socket on a ring circuit approx 5-6 feet, fitted cupboards coming in will cover it otherwise. It has 2 2.5 mm cables coming into it. In the cellar these 2 cables go into a round 32A connection box with screw terminals and 4 cables in it, the ring in, ring out and the 2 socket cables. My question is, should all 4 cables be connected together (all 4 lives, all 4 neutrals and all 4 earths)? That's what I have in the connection box, but from my reading elsewhere I would have expected the ring-in cable to be connected to one of the socket cables, and the ring out to the other socket cable.

In addition, can you show the junction box with the cover off?
Isolate the supply first, obviously.

It sounds strange, what you’ve described at the moment… so we just need a little visual clarification.
