Moving a thromostat

O

OlafIrolp

Hi guys... i am moving a thermostat which is placed near a front door. It has two wires Brown to "L" and Blue to "3". It is a drayton combi-stat to a biasi combi bolier.

First of all is the wired correctly?

Second i have some new cable about 1.5 i think with Black, Gray and Brown + earth in? Which ones to blue and brown so not to be confused if any one ever wants to replace it. I need to extend the exsisting cable. I hope all makes sence.

Thank you for any advice.

Yes it makes sense, get an electrician in to do it so you know it is safe.

because its got to be chased into wall... also there are only two connections to make

please im asking for advice here on cable type? i have 3core notmal housing circuit types..

the 3 core cable yo have will do the job. but from reasding posts, you need to get a qualified sparks in to fit.

but how come? diconnect move th thermostat and reconect... your just extending the cable... which goes through the loft... i will get someone if i feel is right but i kinda agreed with the heating guy. the walls in my flat are v solid not soft.... he said "do you want to chase that?" i agree for the sake of moving a stat is abit of mess/pain why not just live with it next to the enterence.

A thermostat usually has a permanent live, a switched live, a neutral and a CPC, maybe that's why you need a qualified electrician mate. It does not matter whether it's chased in or not.

yes ... ok ill chaase out the wall tomorrow and call some one... i noticed it was reading about 2 degree below actural room temp... but only had two wires inside... sorry id like it chased... it started to niggle me.

What makes you think it isn't working properly? And, when you consider it was most likely installed by an electrician working on instructions from a heating engineer why do you think it should be in any other position than the one it is in now?
