Big house, all painted & decorated, client wants various sockets, wall lights & switches moved, either up,down or to the side, electrics on all 2nd fixed,no possible access to floor areas, what's the solution.Feel like walking away, but this may cause big hassle.

Tell them how it is. Moving points means damage and repair, maybe only minor though. If they accept that then quote for it and do the work. If they want it doing without disruption and that really isn't possible, tell them to get a magician.

Not being rude to your customer, but they probably have more money than sense, the mind boggles as to why they didn't get the positions in the correct place in the first instance, as others have said warn them of the damage and redecoration that this work will incur, stand back and await their decision.

I understand all that, but how would you make the joint to extend the cables to the new position.
Ive seen it over the years,1 gang flush box with connectors/ crimps, blank plate, plaster over.
Not happy doing that, there's no way of getting above, floors have been finished.

We have had to do this on a big renovation, just charge plenty and tell them the risk of jointing cables could fail in the future, we did many on the one job with crimps and heatshrink and not had a problem in 4 years.

With new Wagos that is how I would do it now, and just make sure you specify that you will not make good the decorations, you are a spark not a decorator!

Cheers,it just seems a bit of a bodge, like you said it's their fault, will mark all junctions on plan & tell them exactly what will happen.

Problems start when they ask for accessories to be moved sideways and the cables run vertically - where is the safe zone protection then?

I would walk around with the client and discuss each position in turn, explaining all the issues and let them reflect on what they are asking for.........

This been a problem right from start, even recess lights were moved, fractionally ,on 1 st fix ,per client instructions,& this still happening on site with a week to completion, getting gaffer & client to meet, let them make the decision between them, thanks.

Joining cables with crimps or soldered joints (plastered over) is perhaps necessary as a one off, where a cables been damaged for example and you not able to access above or below. But not for moving loads of fittings, not acceptable IMO.

Judging by this reply you aren't the person in charge as you said "getting the gaffer and client to meet" if this is the case then let them worry about it.

Totally agree, most light fitting were OK to rewrite on 1st fix basic, but not now with all 2 nd fix completed ,it's a problem, total amount maybe get up to 15 items, not happy the way things are looking on site, the client may insist moving more, she don't care ,what she wants she gets.
