Well, I'm currently 'lapsed' with part P as at my last renewal time I knew it would be several months before I needed to notify anything domestic so I put two fingers up to the NICEIC..... and I'm sorely tempted to stay that way!
I'd say the Scam's are the one's to blame.
Reason being that if they wasn't so lax on entry lvl requirements the short course's progammes wouldn't be open to easy abuse. Short courses are for topping up qualifications for experienced sparks....the scam's themselves have made the experience part pretty much null and void.
BUT never mind...at least the cash keeps rolling for them.
I will add IF the 3 scheme providers actualy did what they were designed to do (as in makeing sure thier members were experienced, Qualified sparks that are up to date with the reg's) they wouldn't get half as much grief from the trade.
I also personaly think each single Electrician (not the whole firm) should be assessed which could bring prices down for membership (cutting down the whines of the price) and at least the customer would know they're getting the right service. I realise people will say "that's the QS's job!" but i know for a fact there's firm's around here that send in trainee's/improver's to do work (signed off by manager/QS often back in the office...which is wrong) but as far as the customer is concerned they're getting the job done to full scheme standards. (dunno if that made much sense tbh).
Hmm....Part P isn't wrong...the way the scheme's have twisted and used it for profit is wrong.
