no. not if it's the same address. At least not according to Ofgem's guidance released last autumn, and updated in March.

Possibly Yes, depends if they also have the same owner, it's possible for one MPAN to be 'owned' privately and one by a business, both based at the same location. The ofgem Guidlelines are just that GUIDELINES. It very much depends upon case by case and the intention. Think of a farm house and farm supply. Also the Ofgem guildelines of OS reference and are really there for when no MPAN exists/existed before the installations.

see Gavin A's previuos post here about definition of SITE: http://www.electriciansforums.net/p...463-multi-installs-one-site-2.html#post548331

So no definitive answer, but don't think you can fiddle the system!

I suppose DNO would have add another meter. Another company name. Would be a night mare trying to split of sub circuits on a big installation

@jason121 on the SAME mpan, really? Do you have an example, please me how?

Surely the first would be at whatever band it fits, and the second would be at the 50-150kwp rate.

(Stop calling me Surely :) :) )

customer rang ofgem and ask for an extra 40kw on his existing 40kw.
DNO are fine with this
OFGEM said he can have his first 40kw at the rate before march (installed B4 March 3rd ) and his 2nd 40kw at the lower tariff at 12.9pence.
I have not not got this in writing and i didnt speak to them myself.
Lets hope he got this right

yep, that's right.

The 2 installation dates would probably need to be far enough apart to not raise eyebrows / make it look as if you were deliberately working the system too much.

we've had this before with a system that we were waiting for permission from YEDL on, so installed a 10kW before the deadline, then another 27kW 3 months later once we'd received permission from YEDL etc.

We're actually looking at this as a standard work around for the Northern Power Grid areas, as they're now giving a 65 working day turnaround time for G59 applications, which just won't work with the 3 monthly FIT reviews. The idea would be that we apply for a 50KW installation, install 10kW before 1 cut, then 40 kW before the next cut once we'd got permission. Otherwise I don't see how we can possibly make anything above 10kW work up here unless YEDL get their act together.

@Gavin A, that the normal rules for an extension, - his second tranche has fallen into the 50-100kW bracket, sorry I thought from the OP the goal was to get 70kWp at the 50kWp price.

12.9 pence works so long as you are efficient, it depends upon the roof type, mounting system, etc. the current sweet spots are 50kwp and 250kWp as 51-250kWp are all at the same rate.

there is a bit of a disconnect between the 1st post and the one I replied to there.

The one I replied to is correct, and as you say is the standard rules for an extension.
